What Maryanne does

Maryanne is a small app that turns the books you already own (EPUB and PDF) into audio played on your device. The reading voice and the generated speech are produced by an on-device model. We do not host your library and we do not stream your audio.

Your account

• The first time you open the app, Maryanne creates an anonymous account , which we use to verify membership.
• You can sign up with an email address at any time to link that anonymous account to a real identity. The sign-up flow is optional.
• You can delete your account from Settings → Delete account. Deletion is irreversible.

Free and Plus

• The free plan allows unlimited listening but only limited to certain voices.
• The Plus plan is a one-time purchase (no subscription) that unlocks every current and future offline voice.
• Refunds for Plus are handled by the App Store or Play Store under their standard policies.

What you agree to

• You will only import books that you have the legal right to listen to.
• You will not redistribute, resell, or extract the on-device voice models.
• You will not reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise attempt to extract the source code of the app, except as permitted by the open-source licenses noted in the in-app About page.
• You will not use the app to violate any applicable law.

AI narration and your books

• Maryanne generates AI narration locally from books you choose. This does not give you any right to copy, distribute, publish, share, or otherwise use a book or its narration beyond rights you already have.
• You must have the rights or permission required for every book you import and use with Maryanne.

What we agree to

• We will not upload your books or your audio.
• We will not sell your data.
• We will make a best effort to keep the service available, but the service is provided “as is” without warranty of uninterrupted uptime.
• If we make a change that materially affects your rights, we will surface a notice in the app on next launch.

Disclaimer

The app is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operators disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. The operators are not liable for any indirect or consequential damages arising from use of the app.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the operator’s place of business, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.
